KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- The ringgit was higher against the US dollar in early trade as the steadier share prices on Bursa Malaysia encouraged more buying of the local currency, dealers said.
Dealers said investors also reacted positively to news of an improved global economic outlook after Germany and France reported economic growth in the second quarter of the year.
As at 9.15 am, the ringgit rose against the US dollar at 3.5065/5095 from 3.5120/5160 yesterday.
The ringgit was easier against the Singapore dollar at 2.4337/4382 from 2.4326/4374 yesterday and lower against the yen at 3.6771/6814 from 3.6413/6462 yesterday.
It was lower against the British pound at 5.8215/8275 from 5.8176/8260 yesterday and declined against the euro at 5.0139/0200 from 5.0074/0152 yesterday.
